Nestled in the lush greenery of Izumi, Motobu Town, northern Okinawa — this is where the house stands.
Once home to the owner's grandmother, this traditional kominka has been carefully renovated. The carved ranma transom windows and painted fusuma sliding doors remain as they were, while every modern amenity has been thoughtfully added.
Wake to birdsong in the morning, gaze at a sky full of stars from the rooftop at night. Far from city noise, this is an entirely private, whole-house retreat.
A home where someone was loved, now waiting for your memories.

Deep in the Yanbaru mountains, light pollution is almost nonexistent. Step up to the rooftop and the sky opens up with countless stars. The Milky Way is visible to the naked eye on clear nights — one of the most-mentioned highlights in our guest reviews.
At dawn, the calls of bush warblers and Ryukyu kingfishers drifted in from the trees — completely real. At night, gazing up at a sky full of stars from the rooftop was simply the best. I want to come back!
Warm and peaceful like a grandmother's home — a spacious living room, wooden beams, quiet hallways, and tatami floors. A truly traditional Japanese house. You could even see stars in the night sky.
Really spacious rooms surrounded by beautiful greenery. Very relaxing, and despite feeling remote, it's close to all the sights. Would definitely stay again.
